a) The new rule is Rule 3, Section 3, Article 2. The other Articles in that Section have been moved one number higher (published Article 2 becomes Article 3 and so on). Those taking the NFHS rules test will need to use the “new” Article numbers when answering those questions.
b) In the play rulings following Section 3 (on pp. 22-23) there are two Situations that are wrong and should be deleted. They are 3.3.1 Situations J and K.
c) The material attached, on the second page, includes several additional Situations to inform officials regarding the implementation of the new rule.
d) When it is necessary for an athlete to compete in something more than the single suit stipulated in the new rule, it is possible for an exception to be granted by the CIF Section office, in writing. This is the same procedure required for use of artificial equipment by a disabled swimmer. That is spelled out in Rule 3, Section 3, Article 5 (published as Article 4 on p. 23 of the rules book) - 2009-10 Rule Changes
