37th CIF State Cross Country Championships Recap

FRESNO, CALIF. – The 37th CIF State Cross Country Championships were decorated with new records as Sadie Engelhardt of Ventura joined an elite club, becoming only the 10th girls runner in championship history to become a three-time State Champion with a fifth-best all-time DII time of 16:58. As a team, Jesuit won a state-record 10th team boys title with a third-best all-time DII team time of 76:30. In the Division III race, senior Evan Noonan of Dana Hills became just the fifth boy to earn a third state title with his all-time second best divisional all-time mark of 14:44.

Individually, senior Rylee Blade of Santiago (Corona) won the girls DI title with a fifth-best all-time divisional time of 16:47 (fifth-best all-time for a senior). Junior JR Kesher of Hueneme won the boys DII crown with a fifth-best all-time divisional time of 14:43. Senior Abigail Errington of South Pasadena ran a DIII girls record time of 16:58 for the title. Santa Cruz senior Eli Fitchen-Young took the DIV championship with a second-best all-time divisional time of 14:42. La Jolla junior Chiara Daily earned her second State crown with a second-best-all-time DIV time of 16:45 (fourth-best all-time for a junior). Sophomore Amelia Sarkisian of Brentwood won the girls DV title with an all-time seventh-best divisional time of 17:32. Woodcrest Christian senior Eyan Turk won his second state crown with an all-time DV best mark of 14:33 (fourth-best all-time for a senior).

In girls team competition Trabuco Hills won their first State Championship with an all-time DI team-best time of 87:47. South Pasadena won their first state crown with a second-best all-time DIII team time of 91:41. JSerra Catholic claimed their seventh State Championship with a Division IV all-time best team score of 34. In Division V, Branson won their second state title with an all-time divisional best team time of 94:41

On the team side for the boys, Campolindo (DIII) took home their second state title, while Oaks Christian claimed the DIV championship with a divisional best record time of 77:43. In Division V, Menlo School won their first state Championship with a division record team score and time (26, 76:37).
